About

The story behind Gogaku.

Gogaku's approach to Japanese

When studying Japanese, multiple resources are often used in combination — a textbook or website, a dictionary, flashcards. When it's time to practice, it's not uncommon to come across grammar that you haven't learned yet, or see kanji you haven't seen before. Gogaku is designed to integrate these resources, providing a cohesive learning experience.

How it works

Four resources at hand, working together

Start in Lessons, a textbook-style tool that introduces grammar and vocabulary with examples. Completing lessons moves your vocabulary to Flashcards to study, and grammar to practice with in Chat. The Dictionary is always available as a lookup tool, and can also be used to create custom flashcard decks. Each resource is designed to work with the others, so you can learn, practice, and review seamlessly.

A conversation partner that matches your comprehension

Chat allows you to practice reading and writing in Japanese with a conversation partner that only speaks the grammar and vocabulary you've learned. It adapts to your level, providing examples and explanations that are relevant to your studies.

And much more

Gogaku also includes various settings available to customize your learning experience, such as adjusting the reading difficulty level, setting study reminders, and quick-access reference sheets.
